Application Steps
Download the appropriate application form(s) using the links below.
Complete required paperwork and return it to the Association office by mail, email, or in person (9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., M-F; by appointment only).
For those seeking REALTOR® Membership, please submit with your application(s) a copy of your valid NC real estate license or “pocket card.” To avoid delays in processing your application, please include a copy of the NCREC Broker Activation Form.
Following receipt of your application, a membership staff will contact you to discuss fees and schedule your mandatory orientation(s).
Membership Application Forms
- Application for Designated REALTOR® Membership: For a broker-in-charge (BIC) to apply for a new firm as Designated REALTOR®
- Application for REALTOR® Membership: You must be an active licensed real estate agent, or licensed appraiser to join with affiliation to a firm in our Association.
- Acknowledgment of BIC Status of MCRAOR and MCRMLS: When a member firm changes BIC from one person to another.
- Association Transfer Request: When a member transfers from one of our member firms to another.
- Member Reinstatement Form: When a member has been inactive for less than 5 years and wants to rejoin the Association.
- Primary Affiliate Membership Application: Affiliate membership is for individuals who are not licensed agents but have a professional interest in the real estate industry, e.g., mortgage brokers, real estate attorneys, home inspectors, etc. Affiliate members may not access MLS.
- Participant Application for the Multiple Listing Service: For individuals opening their own firm and who have been designated by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) as a broker-in-charge (BIC).
- Subscriber Application for Participation in the Multiple Listing Service: For individuals working for a member firm under the direction of a Designated REALTOR®/broker-in-charge (BIC).
- MLS Transfer Request Form: For existing members transferring between firms.
- MLS Participant Reinstatement Form: For an office who has been inactivated less than 5 years and are reinstating membership.
- MLS Subscriber Reinstatement Form: For an individual who has been inactive less than 5 years and are becoming active again.
- Administrative Assistant Application for Multiple Listing Service Access: Use this form for the administrative assistants/office administrators working for a member firm who do not hold an active real estate and/or appraisal license. The fee is $10 per month billed to the BIC. If an Admin holds an active NC license and is not affiliated with a firm, a waiver request must be completed and approved. Call the office for more information.
Orientation Process
New Primary members are required to complete the NAR New Member Orientation Online Course and the NAR Code of Ethics Online Course within 30 days of joining. MCRAR also requires an in person New Member Orientation held every other month. This course must be completed within 90 days of joining.
New MLS Only Members are required to review our MLS Rules and Regulations Power Point within 30 days of joining.

Primary REALTOR® Annual Dues
(National, State & Local REALTOR®)
Annual Dues: $631.00
Fees for local, state and national associations of REALTORS®, as well as a $35 assessment for NAR Public Awareness Campaign). Membership dues are prorated monthly (except for the $35 NAR assessment for the Public Awareness Campaign) and are based on the date your license is placed with your firm.

MCRAR MLS Fees
New Member Participants pay a one-time firm initiation fee of $1200 and $48 per month for the BIC.
MLS Only Participants pay a one-time firm initiation fee of $1200 and $75 per month for the BIC.
New Subscribers pay a one-time application fee of $100 and $48 MLS monthly fee for the month they join.
New MLS Only Subscribers pay a one-time application fee of $100 and $75 MLS monthly fee for the month they join.
All subscribers monthly fees will be billed to the BIC and the agent will pay the firm/BIC.
